Located just 1.8 miles (3km) south of the refurbished Southend Airport (SEN), Southend-on-Sea is a charming English seaside town where eating fresh fish n’ chips on the promenade and licking ice-lollies on the beach are part of the experience. Southend-on-Sea also boasts fast and easy connections into London. Fly to Southend Airport from Glasgow Airport and you’ll be having a cold pint in a London pub within an hour after touching down.

Access to London

Just two minutes walk from the terminal is the train station which offers a direct train service from Southend Airport straight into London Liverpool Street. The journey takes less than an hour from the airport into the heart of the capital. On your way to the city you can stop off in Stratford and shop till you drop at Westfield Shopping Centre. 

Attractions in Southend-on-Sea

Three Shells beach is right in the heart of all the action. It is close to shops, restaurants, Southend pier, and boasts a lagoon where you can swim and paddle all day long. A few yards to the east is Adventure Land, a fun park with rollercoaster rides, ghost trains, twister, go karts and adventure golf. Nearby, the Sea Life Aquarium gets you up close and personal with sharks and undulate rays. There is also a rockpool for children to touch starfishes and crabs.

Nearby beaches

West of Southend-on-Sea is Bell Wharf Beach where you can watch fishing boats bobbling in the distance. Slightly further east is the Blue Flag Shoebury Common Beach, an ideal place to jet-ski and kite surf. You can also simply rest in a stripy deckchair, put your feet up, and enjoy the English seaside for a day.
