Glasgow Airport Noise Action Plan 2024-2028

Glasgow Airport Noise Action Plan 2024-2028

Glasgow Airport is pleased to begin public consultation for our Noise Action Plan 2024-2028, marking a pivotal step in our commitment to minimising the noise impact from the airport on local communities.

A Noise Action Plan outlines how an airport manages and, where feasible, reduces aviation noise. Noise Action Plans operate in five yearly cycles and so the proposed Noise Action Plan will update and replace the 2018-2023 Noise Action Plan.

At Glasgow Airport, we recognise that aircraft noise is an important issue for local communities. We support the Government’s policy to limit and reduce aviation noise’s adverse effects on health and quality of life, balancing this with the airport’s social and economic benefits. These proposals aim to address two main sources of aviation noise: air noise and ground noise.

This Noise Action Plan incorporates decades of progress and introduces enhancements to our current noise mitigation measures, developed in consultation with our neighbours and stakeholders.

Importantly, as part of this Plan, we are proposing to extend the Noise Insulation Scheme, making approximately 600 additional properties available for funding under the scheme.

The online consultation will run for eight weeks, from 12th August – 6th October 2024.

A spokesperson for Glasgow Airport said: "We would encourage anyone who is interested in the proposals to engage with our online consultation programme and attend one of the online webinars which will offer further details of the proposals, and an opportunity to ask question and provide feedback on the Noise Action Plan. The webinars will take place on Wednesday 11th September 16.00-17.00 and Tuesday 1st October 17.00-18.00.

"All of the information about our Noise Action Plan is available on our website, where feedback can be submitted until 23:59, Sunday 6th October 2024. We look forward to engaging with the local community, and gaining valuable feedback that will help shape our proposals moving forward."
