WestJet’s popular Halifax route returns to Glasgow Airport

WestJet’s popular Halifax route returns to Glasgow Airport

Glasgow Airport today (Tuesday 3 May) welcomed the return of its popular Halifax service.

The route, operated by airline partner WestJet, returns for the first time since summer 2019.

Operating three flights per week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, the service will connect Scottish travellers to the Nova Scotian capital and the largest municipality in the Canadian province.

 Flight times are as follows:

 Halifax to Glasgow

Tue, Thurs, Sat

Departs 2240 local time - arrives 0808 in Glasgow

Glasgow to Halifax

Wed, Fri and Sun

Departs Glasgow 0935 - arrives 1143 local time

Glasgow’s Operations Director Ronald Leitch met passengers and crew arriving on the first inbound flight this morning as it touched down to a celebratory escort from the airport’s airfield team.

He said: “WestJet’s Halifax service was first launched back and May 2015 and since then has been a popular route with both our Scottish and Canadian passengers, so it is great to see it return.

“This is yet another positive step forward in both our overall recovery and in re-establishing Scotland’s vital North American connectivity.”

“This is another important milestone in recovery as we restore connectivity between Nova Scotia and Scotland,” said John Weatherill, Chief Commercial Officer, WestJet.

“The past two and half years have been incredibly challenging on these communities and these investments are critical to the greater travel and tourism industry’s recovery.  We’re looking forward to reconnecting our guests with the places and people they love the most and appreciate their continued support as we work to restore our network to pre-pandemic levels.”
