Glasgow named Airport of the Year for the second year running

Glasgow named Airport of the Year for the second year running

Glasgow Airport was named Airport of the Year at the Scottish Transport Awards – one of two accolades picked up by AGS Airports last night (Thursday 20 June).

Glasgow picked up its second consecutive Airport of the Year award after the judging panel praised the transport hub for its operation excellence and efforts to continually improve the passenger experience.

The Project CAELUS consortium led by AGS Airports in partnership with NHS Scotland was also named the Most Innovative Transport Project.

CAELUS (Care & Equity – Healthcare Logistics UAS Scotland), is part funded from the Future Flight Challenge at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to research what will be the UK’s first medical distribution network using drones has launched its next phase.

Mark Beveridge, Managing Director of Glasgow Airport, said: “We are thrilled to have been named Scotland’s Airport of the Year for the second consecutive year.

“Our wider airport community employs thousands of people across more than 100 companies, but we each have the same desire and drive to ensure our passengers enjoy an excellent customer experience. We focus on ensuring the passenger is at the heart of everything we do, so it is great to see that the judging panel has once again recognised the remarkable work being done day in, day out by our people.”

Fiona Smith, AGS Airports Group Head of Aerodrome Strategy and CAELUS Project Director, said: “We were delighted when we heard we had been shortlisted in the Scottish Transport Awards earlier this year, so to win is a fantastic achievement.

“Our team will be carrying out more live flight trials later this year to showcase how we can revolutionise the way healthcare services are delivered in Scotland and to provide equity of care.

“This award is testament to the hard work carried out by all the partners involved in this consortium and I thank them all as we continue onto the next phase of the project.”

Cabinet Secretary for Transport Fiona Hyslop MSP and host Jo Caufield welcomed hundreds of industry professionals to the event last night to celebrate the people and organisations that make a real difference to transport across Scotland.

On the same night, Glasgow Airport also picked up the Best Brand Development Award at the Marketing Society Star Awards for the ‘Go For It Campaign’.
