By Kenny Welsh, Security Manager, Glasgow Airport
As the summer getaway season gets into full swing, we’re delighted to welcome thousands of passengers through Glasgow Airport. With school holidays set to get underway, it’s fantastic to see so many families and holidaymakers heading off to enjoy a well-earned break.
To help you make the most of your journey, I’d like to share some top travel tips to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience.
1. Arrive Early
Timing is key to a relaxed start:
- International flights: Arrive at least 3 hours before departure
- Domestic flights: Arrive 2 hours before departure
- Security: Aim to be through security at least 1 hour before departure
- Gate times: Always check with your airline for gate closing times, as these can vary
2. Be Ready for Security
We’ve introduced new screening technology at Glasgow Airport to help speed up your journey. However, for now, the liquid rules remain unchanged:
- Liquids must still be 100ml or less
The good news? You don’t need to remove your liquids or electronics from your hand luggage when going through security.
That said, some items may still require additional screening, so please follow the guidance of our helpful security team—they’re here to get you on your way as smoothly as possible.
3. Enjoy the Choice While You Wait
While the airport will be busy and work will be taking place throughout the terminal, you’ll find plenty of choice to make your time before departure enjoyable. From a wide range of restaurants and cafés to our comfortable lounges, there’s something for everyone—whether you're grabbing a quick bite, relaxing with a coffee, or treating yourself to a pre-flight meal.
4. Stay Informed
Follow us on social media for the latest travel updates, tips, and summer getaway inspiration. We’ll be sharing helpful reminders and behind-the-scenes content to keep you informed and entertained.
Thank you for choosing Glasgow Airport. We look forward to welcoming you and helping you get your journey off to the best possible start.
Safe travels,
