Keeping passengers safe and secure at Glasgow Airport

Keeping passengers safe and secure at Glasgow Airport

The safety and security of our people and passengers is the cornerstone of everything we do at Glasgow Airport.

While the main interaction between passengers and our security people occurs in our search areas, a huge operation also takes place behind the scenes and across the entire airport campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

At Glasgow Airport we believe security is everyone’s responsibility, from the thousands of staff working for the 100-plus companies operating across our terminal and wider campus to the millions of passengers we welcome each year.

We have a strong security culture driven by our security staff and key partners such as Police Scotland to make every passenger journey a memorable and safe one.

All day every day, our security teams and Police Scotland are out and about in the terminal and local road network. You will also see them on constant patrol of our airfield, wider campus and around the airport perimeter.

The airport utilises state-of-the-art perimeter detection technology supported by our vast CCTV network covering our airfield, terminal and wider campus road network.

Behind the scenes, when you drop your cases off at check-in, our highly skilled people use the latest digital 3D technology to screen all luggage passing through the airport.

More than 5,000 people are employed across the wider airport and each of them are trained to be our eyes and ears and to report any issues direct to our on-site 24-hour control centre and CCTV hub. This is particularly the case when operating our industry-leading Campus Watch programme tackling disruptive behaviour.

Through our ‘See It, Say It, Stop It’ approach, everyone from our colleagues who clean the terminal to the staff in charge of boarding an aircraft has a role to play in ensuring our zero-tolerance approach.

So if you notice anything of concern, please play your part in our security culture and make sure to let a member of the Glasgow Airport team aware so we can act.
