Loganair to take over Flybe's Exeter and Southampton routes

Loganair to take over Flybe's Exeter and Southampton routes

Loganair has stepped in to take over Glasgow-based services to Exeter and Southampton following the collapse of Flybe.

From Monday 30 March Scotland's airline will introduce a daily service to Exeter and three flights per day to Southampton. A further flight will be added to the Southampton service beginning Monday 6 July.

Managing Director at Glasgow Airport Mark Johnston said: “Loganair’s decision to step in to operate the popular routes to Exeter and Southampton is welcome news on what has been a very challenging day.

The airline’s management team have acted decisively in the space of a few hours to put considerable resources in place to take over these important daily services and this should be commended.

We look forward to seeing both routes back in operation on Monday 30 March.”

The airline is taking over 16 routes formerly flown by Flybe. Loganair will be adding nearly 400 new flights each week and has opened a special recruitment line for former Flybe employees seeking to continuing their aviation careers.

Loganair’s Chief Executive Jonathan Hinkles said: “The collapse of a long-standing airline like Flybe marks a desperately sad day, especially for the airline’s dedicated team of employees and for customers facing disruption to their journeys.

By stepping in quickly with a comprehensive plan, Loganair is aiming to maintain essential air connectivity within the UK regions to keep customers flying, and to offer new employment to former Flybe staff members who are facing an uncertain future today.”

Flights are on sale now through Loganair and via travel agent systems.
