Dedicated pick-up and drop-off facility to open on 27 April 2017

Dedicated pick-up and drop-off facility to open on 27 April 2017

Our dedicated pick-up and drop-off facility is now open.

The new purpose-built facility is the final stage of a wider scheme of works aimed at reducing congestion and improving the flow of traffic on the airport’s road network.

The previous drop-off area at Caledonian Way West is now closed.

For the first time, the airport has introduced a charging structure for drop-off with customers paying £2 for a stay of up to 10 minutes. A pick-up fee has been in place since 2010.

The system is ticketless and charges are calculated on exit using number plate recognition. Drivers using the new covered facility will make payment at the exit barriers using a number of methods including:

1. Coins ranging from 10p to £2, including the new £1 coin

2. Chip and pin Contactless payment Apple Pay Magstripe

3. Change machines are also be located in the pick-up and drop-off facility.

4. Anyone wishing to visit the airport for more than 10 minutes should continue to use the short stay car park.

There will be no change in the current arrangements for blue badge holders, who are entitled to up to 30 minutes free parking in the short stay car park.

The airport will continue to offer a free pick-up and drop-off area located in the Long Stay Car Park.

Customers can park for free for up to 30 minutes and a 24-hour shuttle bus, which takes approximately five minutes and operates every 10 minutes, taking customers directly to and from the main terminal building.

Full details of the new multi-million pound facility, including a Q&A, are available here.
