Glasgow Airport gears up for busy October getaway

Glasgow Airport is gearing up for one of its busiest periods of the year as tens of thousands of holidaymakers prepare to jet off for the October holiday week.

Almost 155,000 people are expected to pass through the airport between Thursday 8 and Monday 12 October with many flying out to popular sunspots and city break destinations such as Budapest, Prague, Dublin, the Canary Islands, Dubai, Las Vegas and Florida.

In anticipation of the busy period ahead, the airport and its airline partners will have extra staff on hand to help guide passengers, especially those with young children, through check-in.

“We’ll have more staff in the terminal to ensure everyone enjoys a smooth journey through the airport, and there will be fun activities and craft fairs to keep the youngsters entertained.  As always, we advise customers to arrive in plenty of time to get through security, and ensure that all liquids, gels and pastes carried in hand luggage are 100ml or less.”

In September, Glasgow Airport further cemented its position as Scotland’s long haul airport when Air Transat announced a new route to Montreal starting next summer, and Air Canada Rouge announced a new service to Toronto.  Meanwhile, Wizz Air launched two new services to Vilnius and Lublin, and unveiled it will begin a new service to Bucharest from next year.  Blue Air will also start flying to the Romanian Capital – its first route from Glasgow Airport - from December 17 this year.
