Ryanair has officially opened its 3rd Scottish base (69th in total) at Glasgow Airport with one based aircraft, seven new routes for winter and nine new routes for summer 2015, delivering over 850,000 passengers per year.

Drum and pipe band, Clanadonia, were on hand to provide a warm welcome to the Ryanair passengers who arrived from Dublin and Glasgow Airport's fire service provided a traditional water cannon salute.

Ryanair’s Glasgow base will deliver:

  • 1 based aircraft
  • 7 winter routes (including Dublin and London Stansted 3 x daily)
  • 9 summer routes (Bydgoszcz, Carcassonne, Chania, Derry, Dublin, London, Riga, Warsaw & Wroclaw)
  • Over 850,000 customers p.a.

Ryanair celebrated the opening of its new Glasgow International base by releasing 100,000 seats on sale at prices from £19.99 for travel in November, December and January, which are available for booking until midnight Thursday (30 Oct).

Francois Bourienne, Glasgow Airport’s commercial director, said: “It is a real pleasure to officially welcome Ryanair to Glasgow Airport. The airline will serve seven routes from Glasgow this winter, which will increase to nine from next summer, providing our customers with an even greater choice of business and holiday destinations to travel to.

“The airline has ambitious plans for growth, particularly amongst Glasgow’s business community, which is why it is focused on opening at primary airports, such as Glasgow. We are already seeing strong demand for Ryanair’s services amongst our customers and are committed to working with the airline to continue to enhance our route offering and deliver services based on demand.

“We look forward to working closely with the team at Ryanair to ensure it enjoys success and growth at Glasgow Airport.”
