COVID Testing

Can I book a COVID test at Glasgow Airport if I am not flying from the airport?

Yes. You can book a private COVID test at Glasgow Airport even if you are not flying.

Glasgow Airport has partnered up with TAC Healthcare Group Ltd (TAC) to offer various COVID testing options to those who require this service.

TAC is a clinician-led health care provider based in Aberdeen City but covering the whole of the UK. They are regulated by Health Improvement Scotland and the Care Quality Commission.

Can I book my 2, 8 and 10 day tests at Glasgow Airport when returning from abroad?

You cannot use the airport to book return tests. You must book your testing kit using the CTM Booking Portal – any other type of testing kit, such as free NHS kits or those sold by private businesses, cannot be used for these tests.

What do I need to do if I am arriving from a foreign country?

If you are arriving from a foreign country you will need to:

  • have taken a coronavirus test in the 3 days before you begin your journey to Scotland - this test must show a negative result for you to be able to travel
  • show proof of your negative test result before boarding your plane - border staff may also ask for proof of a negative test when you arrive in Scotland
  • complete an online passenger locator form before travelling
  • You may also need to take a test when you arrive in Scotland or isolate in a hotel (Red List Countries). These differ depending on the country you arrive from. These tests cannot be bought at the airport. Find out more here.

Are COVID tests free?

NHS COVID-19 RT-PCR tests are free for those with symptoms, those asked to have a test by a local council or by their hospital, or when a test is considered necessary by a clinical or public health professional. This does not include travel. Find out more about NHS testing here

You do not need to take a test if you began your journey to England from: Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey, Ascension, Falkland Islands, St Helena, Myanmar.

You must have proof of a negative coronavirus test to travel to England from an international destination – this includes UK citizens. It is your responsibility to check you are not only booking the correct COVID test but also ensure you leave enough time to get the results before you fly.

Do I need a Covid test to travel to Glasgow?

If you're travelling from one of these countries or territories, and have not travelled outside these countries for 10 days or more before leaving for Scotland, you will not need to take a test: Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Wales, Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Ascension, Falkland Islands, St Helena, Myanmar

If you are travelling from an international destination, you will need to buy a COVID-19 test and take this test in the 3 days before you travel.

When boarding your plane, you will need to provide proof that you have taken the test, and that the result of the test was negative. You may also be asked to provide proof of a negative test when you arrive in Scotland.

Can I pay for an antibody test?

Do I pay VAT on my COVID Tests?

No. The Coronavirus Tests do not include VAT.

What happens if I request a refund?

When you make a booking online the value is held as pending in your bank account. This is part of the pre-authorisation check performed by merchants in order to confirm there are available funds to process your transaction. Note, when the balance is pending the money has not yet left your bank, rather it is queued waiting to be sent to us.

Requesting a refunded within 48 hours of making your purchase will instruct our merchant to void the transaction, which halts the process detailed above. A message will be to your bank instructing them to release the pending balance back to your account.

The amount of time it takes to release the pending balance is entirely set by your bank, and it is out with our control to accelerate this process.

If you have requested a refund out with 48 hours of making your purchase, then please allow up to 21 working days for this to be proceed.

What precautionary measures are in place at Glasgow Airport?

We are continuing to follow the medical, clinically driven, advice from the relevant health authorities on what measures are required and effective to deal with COVID-19. This includes:

Promoting all of the latest advice on COVID-19 which has been supplied by Health Protection Scotland and Public Health England.

Installing hand sanitisers throughout the airport.

Enhancing our already thorough cleaning procedures with a specific focus on the regular cleaning of hard surfaces.

What's the risk of coronavirus for travellers?

There are some countries and areas where there's a higher chance of coming into contact with someone with COVID-19. The NHS has prepared the following advice for travelers. NHS Advice

Should I wear a face mask?

The wearing of facial coverings is now mandatory on public transport, including airports.

This will apply to all passengers and staff in public areas, although there will be exemptions especially for those who are not able to wear a face-covering for specific medical reasons. Children under five will also be exempt. See gov.scot for further information.

If you require special assistance whilst at the airport, please check the Special Assistance section for any changes that may affect your journey at the airport due to additional COVID-19 measures.

If you do not wish to travel due to a pre-existing condition, please contact your airline or if your doctor has recommended you not to travel please contact your travel insurance company.

Can people accompany me to the airport?

Please only travel to the airport if you have a flight booked. Only those people who are flying will be allowed inside the terminal building.

Only passengers traveling should come to the airport, non-flying members of the public are not permitted inside, unless they are escorting a passenger that needs special assistance.

What are the social distancing rules at airports?

Please observe any signage regarding queueing systems that may be in place and keep your distance from others where possible. This includes our seating area and in the toilets.

What do I do if I’ve booked parking or lounge and my airline cancels my flight?

With increasing news coverage around the spread of Coronavirus, we’ve been working with our booking partner NCP (National Car Parks) to provide you with information around refunds and cancellation terms for any existing parking and lounge bookings. 

From 13th March 2020, the following terms apply to existing bookings regardless of whether your travel has been cancelled by your airline, tour operator or as a result of you wishing to change your travel plans.

Our contact centre is currently experiencing high volumes of calls. Please avoid calling or emailing unless you are due to travel in the next 72 hours. We recommend that you follow the advice below as the team are having to prioritise customers whose immediate travel plans are now impacted.  

FLEXIBLE PRODUCT BOOKING

If you’ve pre-booked parking on a flexible product, you can cancel and get a refund, or amend your booking online as part of the terms of the product you’ve booked. This can be completed online up to 2 hours before your arrival date into the car park. Please visit the manage my booking section on the Glasgow Airport website or, visit the website you booked through and cancel or amend once you’ve logged into your booking.

If you’ve prebooked a lounge on a flexible product, you can cancel and get a refund, or amend your booking online as part of the terms of the product you’ve booked. This can be completed online up to two hours before your arrival date into the lounge. Please visit the manage my booking section on the Glasgow Airport website or, visit the website you booked through and cancel or amend once you’ve logged into your booking.

NON-FLEXIBLE PRODUCT BOOKING

If you’ve pre-booked parking on a non-flexible product and you wish to amend or cancel your booking, we can issue you with a promo code to the full value of your booking which you can use to book parking for a future date. The promo code will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue. To request your promo code, please email us at bookingenquiries@ncp.co.uk with your booking reference number and contact details and we’ll respond to you as soon as possible.

If you’ve prebooked a lounge on a non-flexible product and you wish to amend or cancel your booking, we can issue you with a promo code to the full value of your booking. If you booked a lounge bundled with a non-flex parking product, we will issue a promo code equal to the total value of the booking. As an example, if the current booking is £40 parking + £20 lounge we will give a promo code to the value of £60. When you redeem the promo code you may wish to use the full value towards parking only or a combination of parking and lounge. The promo code will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue. To request your promo code, please email us at bookingenquiries@ncp.co.uk with your booking reference number and contact details and we’ll respond to you as soon as possible.

Is Glasgow Airport still offering Special Assistance during COVID19?

If you have booked special assistance, please head to the special assistance area within the check-in hall. Our colleagues are all equipped with protective clothing and our wheelchairs are cleaned thoroughly after each use. Those requiring special assistance are permitted to bring one other non-flying member of the public with them to help them get to the assistance point. Are there changes to Airport Security during Covid 19?

The rules on hand luggage have not changed, so please ensure any liquids are in containers of less than 100ml (including hand gel) and placed in a clear plastic bag before entering security. Laptops and tablets should also be outside your bag. However, in light of COVID-19 some airlines have changed their cabin baggage policy so please check with your airline as there is nowhere to store left luggage.

Please keep your face covering on as you pass through security, although you may be asked to remove it if you are selected for an additional search.

What are the airport security measures during the coronavirus pandemic?

Follow instructions from airport and airline staff, which may include: where to sit how to queue at check-in, security or when boarding the aircraft instructions on screens, barriers or floor markings requests to move to less busy areas at check-in

Depending on where you are flying to, you may need to have your temperature checked before flying. At the security, checkpoint follow the advice in the airport to prepare for security checks.

Where possible, avoid touching surfaces in the airport. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds after using self-service check-in, luggage trollies, and other frequently touched surfaces.

Do I need to quarantine for 10 days when travelling to the UK during the covid 19 pandemic?

All international arrivals must show proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken up to 72 hours prior to departure for entry into the UK. You will still need to self-isolate if you have traveled from a country, not on the Travel Corridors list. All UK arrivals must complete a Passenger Locator Form. Before returning to the UK, please check the latest advice and ensure you have completed the necessary forms.

Please keep your face covered in the terminal except if asked to remove it by Border Force officers.

Remember to keep your distance as far as possible when collecting your baggage and leaving the airport.

Please leave the terminal as soon as you have collected any baggage. If you are being picked up, please arrange to be met at the car in the designated area.

Do I need to fill out a health screening form to travel to the Netherlands?

If you’re traveling to or from the Netherlands by air you must complete a health screening form and have it ready to show on request during your journey, whether you are at the departure airport, on the aircraft or at the arrival airport.
