In spring 2007, Glasgow Airport began work on a major terminal extension. The project is the biggest single investment by BAA at Glasgow Airport since the opening of the international pier in the early 1990s.

The terminal at Glasgow Airport was last extended in the early 1990s and is designed to handle nine million passengers. During the busy summer months, the terminal can become heavily congested. With passenger numbers close to nine million, the terminal is now nearing capacity.

Airports face a real challenge. With stringent security measures in place across all UK airports, we need to work hard to process passengers swiftly and safely. Doing so requires a substantial investment in new technology and facilities, and a consolidation of the existing three security search zones.

A new way to travel

Glasgow Airport’s new terminal extension has been designed to put passengers first. The two-storey development includes a domestic arrivals hall, a purpose-built security search area, and more space to relax. A great choice of new bars, shops and restaurants will also feature in the development, including some big high street names, and a new tax-free store.

A second phase will see many parts of the existing terminal building refurbished by spring 2009, as part of the ongoing transformation of the airport.

Fast, efficient and safe

Your security is our number one priority. So we've invested in new technology, and a purpose-built security search area, to help speed up the screening process.

Shop, eat, relax and enjoy

Once through security, passengers will be able to enjoy the full range of bars, shops, restaurants and lounges available in the terminal, including our exclusive passenger lounge, skylounge.

Save before you fly

With most shops located after security, passengers will also enjoy tax-free prices, making it cheaper than ever to shop at the airport
