Icelandair increases flights from Glasgow
Glasgow Airport is pleased to announce an increase in the number of weekly flights from Glasgow to Iceland.
The increase will take effect from 14 September to 26 October and 12 April to 6 June 2011, and adds one flight per week, on Tuesday, to the current autumn schedule from Glasgow. It will result in five flights per week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
The schedule fits into Icelandair’s “hub and spoke” system, allowing passengers to connect onwards to Icelandair’s North American destinations, such as New York, Boston and Seattle. The connection times to North America are short, resulting in elapsed flying times comparable or better than the competition.
Flights depart from Glasgow at 14:20 and arrive in Reykjavik at 15:40.
Hjörvar Sæberg Högnason, Icelandair’s General Manager for the UK & Ireland, said: “We are pleased to expand our service from Glasgow to Iceland and our North American destinations this autumn and next spring, two great times to visit Iceland, especially for those looking to save.
“This will provide our passengers with increased convenience and flexibility to travel to Iceland to take advantage of the favourable exchange rate, plus increase the options for connecting onwards to fantastic destinations like New York City, Boston, Seattle and more.”
