Kiss Flights launch 12 new summer sun services

Glasgow Airport has secured further additional capacity following the demise of Globespan, as new operator Kiss Flights announces plans to fly to 12 popular sunspots this year from Glasgow.

Kiss Flights operates from eight UK airports but this will be its first time in Scotland. The company is launching flights to Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey from early April.

Popular sun destinations such as Tenerife, Malaga, Fuerteventure, Lanzarote, Faro and Las Palmas are available.

During the peak summer period, from late June to early August, flights to Corfu, Heraklion, Dalaman, Faro, Kos, Lanzarote, Las Palmas, Malaga, Paphos, Rhodes and Tenerife will be available from Glasgow.

Flights will be operated on behalf of Kiss Flights by Sweden carrier Viking Airlines, using a Boeing 737 aircraft.

Kiss Flights Director Paul Moss said: “Kiss Flights are enjoying a period of strong growth and we are delighted to be able to offer these flights from Glasgow. Since the demise of Flyglobespan we have had unprecedented requests from the travel trade to offer increased capacity from Scotland.”

Amanda McMillan, MD of Glasgow Airport, welcomed the new flights. She said: “Kiss Flights is a new name, but the team there has a great deal of past experience in the UK travel industry and they have made a significant commitment to Glasgow Airport this year, serving many of the destinations once served by the Globespan group.

“We are making good progress in our efforts to backfill the capacity lost by Globespan, and this latest announcement from Kiss Flights is further good news for passengers. We are determined to ensure that holidaymakers continue to have a wide choice of airlines and destinations from Glasgow. Competition equals lower prices for travellers.”

She added: “This is the first of several announcements we hope to make in the coming weeks as we continue our work to backfill the capacity lost by Globespan, and secure new international routes for Glasgow.”

Kiss is a fully ATOL protected tour operator. For more information visit www.kissflights.com or contact your local travel agent.

The Kiss announcement follows news that Barrhead Travel will also operate flights out of Glasgow Airport in 2010.

Barrhead Travel has launched its own-brand package holiday programme for summer 2010 which will serve popular sunspots in Majorca and mainland Spain.

The company, one of the UK's leading independent travel agents, has chartered aircraft from British Airways which will operate weekly throughout the summer from Glasgow Airport.

The programme will operate weekly between late May and mid September to Palma and Barcelona, with convenient weekend departure times.

The holiday flights will also carry Barrhead Travel's passengers to cruise departures for Mediterranean itineraries.
