Wheels on the bus go round and round after airport cash boost
The wheels on a local community bus will keep on rolling after a funding boost from Glasgow Airport.
Volunteers from Linnvale have welcomed a grant of £1,000 from Glasgow Airport's Community Trust Fund to help fund the Linnvale Community Bus initiative.
The community bus, which relies on local volunteers, provides a vital social link to many residents in the Linnvale area, transporting people to and from community groups and other local events.
Established in 1999, the community bus operates seven days a week, providing free transport to local residents who have restricted mobility. The bus ensures those residents are able to get out and about without having to rely on friends and family for transportation.
Speaking about the funding, Margaret Collins, Chairperson for the Linnvale Community Bus, said: "We are delighted to receive a £1,000 donation from Glasgow Airport. I heard that the airport had a community trust fund and thought we should apply. I would like to take this opportunity thank Glasgow Airport for their kind donation."
Amanda McMillan, Managing Director at Glasgow Airport, said: “We are fully committed to supporting projects in the Clydebank community and are delighted to offer support to such a worthwhile cause.
"The organisers of the Linnvale Community Bus do a fantastic job in providing a much-needed social link for people living in the Linnvale area. I wish the project continued success for the future”.
