Glasgow Airport is the only airport in Scotland with direct motorway access and is well served by public transport for access to Glasgow city centre and further across Scotland.


Travelling to Glasgow Airport by bus is easy as there are several services connecting with Glasgow city centre, other local destinations and beyond.

Most buses connect through the main Buchanan Street Bus Station in the city centre where connecting services from all over the country arrive, making it really easy to get to the airport from other parts of Scotland.

What’s more, one of the great benefits of taking the bus to the airport is that it will stop right outside the main terminal building!

The Glasgow Airport Express is Glasgow Airport's official bus service connecting the airport and the city centre in just 15 minutes.

Operated by First Glasgow, the Glasgow Airport Express runs buses up to every 10 minutes, 24/7, 364 days a year, every day except Christmas Day. With stops at key City Centre locations - Hope Street near Central Station, George Square near Queen Street Station and Buchanan Bus Station, the Glasgow Airport Express offers easy access to most popular hotels. The Glasgow Airport Express departs from stance 1 at Glasgow Airport.

How to buy your Glasgow Airport Express bus ticket:

From the driver

You can buy direct from the driver on the day of travel using cash or a credit or debit card.


Using First's mTickets app you can use your smartphone or tablet as your bus ticket. This allows you to buy tickets before you travel, any day, at any time, when you're at home, in the office or out and about, so you have them ready for when you want to get on the bus. Simply download the mTickets app, select the Glasgow Airport Express and buy your tickets. These can be stored in your phone and activated when you are ready to travel. When you have activated your ticket, simply show it to the driver when you board the service.

Online payments

You can use the

Stagecoach Express JET Connect 

The Stagecoach Express JET Connect travels direct to Fife from stance 9 (includes stops at Cumbernauld, Kincardine, Dunfermline, Halbeath P&R, Glenrothes, Cupar and St Andrews)

The Express JET Connect route X24, operated by Stagecoach East Scotland offers comfortable coach links to the East of Scotland.  With journeys every hour, seven days a week between 0530 and 2230 the Express JET Connect provides a fast and frequent link to and from Glasgow Airport from Fife.  Journeys stop at St Andrews, Cupar, Glenrothes, Halbeath P&R, Dunfermline, Kincardine and Cumbernauld and provide many more connections across the East of Scotland to get to Glasgow Airport.

Express JET Connect is operated by luxury coaches which feature reclining leather seats, a toilet, power sockets and free  Wi-Fi  on board.  The coaches also have luggage lockers with plenty space for suitcases.

A period return ticket costs £19, valid for 28 days and kids can travel for just £1 for a period return when bought alongside the adult ticket.  Other tickets for regular travel are also available, visit for more information.

If you are travelling by train, the nearest station to Glasgow Airport is Paisley Gilmour Street, just over one mile from the terminal and connected by the McGill’s 757 bus service.

The First 500 Glasgow Shuttle also connects directly to the airport from Glasgow Queen Street and Glasgow Central Train Stations.

Tickets to Glasgow Airport can be purchased at any train station in Scotland or via the ScotRail website.

Dropping off?

Are you dropping off a friend, relative or business colleague at Glasgow Airport? It’s easy!

We provide a dedicated drop off area which is landscaped, partially covered and easy to find – and just a short walk from the main terminal doors.

Just follow the signs for ‘drop off’ and you’ll find this area located next to Car Park 1.

Rental car drop off

Have you rented a car from one of Glasgow Airport’s on-site car rental operators? It’s easy to drop it off when you return to the airport after your trip, short break or holiday. Simply make your way to the car rental area on St Andrew’s Drive next to Car Park 2. This area is opposite the main terminal – just drop off your rental car and walk over!

Walking and cycling

If you want to walk or cycle to Glasgow Airport, the good news is that we are connected to a local footpath network and also the National Cycle Network

For cyclists, we provide free cycle parking facilities at these locations.

  • Administration Building car park on St Andrew’s Drive
  • Staff car park behind the Holiday Inn Express
  • Adjacent to Multi Storey Car Park 1

Please bear in mind, however, that we don’t provide locks. You must use your own and remember to take it away with you when you leave the airport.
