East Dunbartonshire Councillor Manjinder Shergill, who is a member of the FlightPath Fund committee, attended the event and presented a cheque to Mr Meehan, Head Teacher at Bearsden Primary School.
Councillor Shergill said: “This grant will enable more than 240 pupils at Bearsden Primary to take part in a lunch time sports club which will help to improve fitness and wellbeing across the school. It is a great initiative, and one that the FlightPath Fund is delighted to support – it aligns with our commitment to enhance educational projects in East Dunbartonshire.I’m sure the pupils, teachers and parents at Bearsden Primary will be delighted with this new funding, and I look forward to hearing the feedback over the coming months.”
Gary Roberts from Enjoyaball said: “The lunch time activity club operates three days a week at the school and covers a multi-sports programme that gradually develops sports specific skills and confidence across ball sports. It also helps to bring healthiness, an understanding of various sports, transferable skills, techniques and helps with team building as well as independence through sports. Enjoy-a-ball are delighted to be involved in such a worthwhile project”
Mr Meehan, Head Teacher at BPS said; “The granting of the FlightPath Fund is fantastic news for the pupils of Bearsden Primary School! We are always looking for ways to improve the school experience for our pupils and this funding will help us to provide high quality, structured and fun games during lunch times. Over 240 of our youngest pupils will directly benefit from this funding and I would like to thank the Bearsden Primary Fundraising Group for all of their efforts and the Flight Path Fund for their consideration of our proposal”
