There’s no shortage of family-friendly Thomson destinations to whisk the clan off to this year – and the best part is, they’re all within reach of Glasgow Airport.

In fact, with so many incredible choices, the tricky part will be picking your favourite. To give you a helping hand, here’s a lowdown of our favourite family holiday hotspots…

Orlando

With Walt Disney World alone almost the same size as Glasgow, Orlando is a sprawling playground of a place. Start off at Disney’s Magic Kingdom and you’ll find the likes of Mickey, Donald and Pluto around every corner. Throw into the mix more magic than you can wave your wand at, thanks to Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, and you’ve got the sort of holiday that’s just as likely to bring a childish grin to the face of grown adults, as well as little ones. If white-knuckle thrills are your thing, check out our multi-park tickets – they could end up saving you a small fortune.

Tenerife

Tenerife knows a thing or two about keeping the whole tribe entertained. Siam Park and Loro Parque are the largest Canary Island’s most popular attractions, and it’s easy to see why. Siam Park brings a taste of Thailand to an all-action waterpark. You’ll find a whole host of slides and chutes to race down, including the famous of Tower of Power, with its 28-metre near-vertical drop. Not convinced? If you’d rather trade high-octane thrills for something more sedate, head for the park’s lazy Mai Thai River. Loro Parque is equally unmissable. With an incredible selection of wildlife, including more than 350 species of parrot, the park has welcomed in excess of 40 million visitors – go and see what the fuss is about.

Larnaca

Larnaca is your gateway to family frolics in Cyprus. For Blue Flag beaches, a quiet, villagey ambience, and a clutch of restaurants with kids’ menus and play areas, head for Nissi Beach. While it might only be a hop, skip and a jump away from lively Ayia Napa, the vibe here is more sandcastles and spades than 3am raves. But that doesn’t mean you’ll be bored – far from it, in fact. Two go-karting tracks means there’s plenty to keep any wannabe Lewis Hamiltons out of mischief. Meanwhile, Europe’s biggest Greek-themed waterpark, WaterWorld takes care of wet and wild days out. And, if you’re lucky enough to be in town for Ayia Napa Children’s Festival, expect all sorts of arts, crafts and activities for the kids to have a go at.

Costa Dorada

Costa Dorada has been a favourite among families for decades now. So what makes the ‘Golden Coast’ so popular? Maybe it’s the 92-kilometres of beaches, providing plenty of chances to showcase your sandcastle construction skills? Perhaps the thrills and spills of PortAventura, Spain’s biggest theme park? Or it could be Barcelona and Gaudi’s eye-popping architecture? Chances are, it’s a mixture of all the above. And, with a flight time of just a couple of hours from Glasgow, it’s one of your best bets for a hassle-free family break.
