Summer styles hit the catwalk at Glasgow Airport

29 May 2012

A fashion extravaganza landed at Glasgow Airport today, when a host a beautiful models strutted down the catwalk, for the airport’s first ever fashion show.

Passengers were treated to a glimpse of the latest retail summer offerings available at the airport and were able to enjoy three fashion shows as models glided down the purpose built catwalk in the airport’s main departures area.

The fashion show, which showcased this season’s hottest designer and high street trends, including items from Hugo Boss, Diesel, Ted Baker, Dorothy Perkins and Accessorize, was organised by Glasgow Airport, in partnership with Tess Hartmann and her team at the Scottish Fashion Awards.

Event organiser, Denise Gilmour, commercial account manager at Glasgow Airport, said: “The fashion show is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase some of the great collections available at Glasgow Airport and we were thrilled to have the wonderful fashion expertise of Tessa and her team.”

The fashion show is just one of the many events the airport has planned over the busy summer months, which should create some theatre within the airport and enhance the customer experience for passengers travelling through the airport.

To promote the best looks available at the airport, the team at the Scottish Fashion Awards created a number of looks for the summer season. The looks, which cater for all shapes and sizes, include a beach chic, flirty floral, surfs up, pretty petal and modern prep range.

Denise Gilmour added: “The day has been a terrific success, which has not only highlighted the fantastic retail range at the airport, but raised awareness of the massive savings you can make when buying at the airport.”

“In addition to thanking Tessa and her team a big thank you needs to go to our retail partners, who have really got behind the event and supplied some great name garments for the catwalk.

“We are already looking forward to hosting the second “Get the Look” Fashion Show next summer.”

Tessa Hartmann, Founder of the Scottish Fashion Awards, said: “I am delighted that we are working with Glasgow Airport for the 4th consecutive year. Our international fashion editors, celebrities and fashion stars adore the warm hospitable Scottish welcome they receive from the moment they set foot on our shores. They receive the dignitary arrival service which allows them to whisk through fast track and begin the now globally recognised Scottish Fashion Awards experience. As a regular traveller through the airport, it's wonderful to see it has become such a real retail haven - the only problem is the spend on one's purse as the shops are so enticing. But it's exactly the image Scotland's international airport should be portraying - modern, efficient and consumer friendly.”
