17 December 2012
Leading leisure airline Jet2.com has announced it will extend its Barcelona and Rome services from Glasgow Airport which will be available all year round starting from summer 2013.
Flights to the Italian capital start from £38 one way including taxes and will run twice weekly during the winter months. Those keen to visit cosmopolitan Barcelona will also be able to travel year round with prices starting from £37 one way including taxes.
Steve Heapy chief commercial officer of Jet2.com said: “Rome and Barcelona are two of our most popular destinations and so we want to ensure customers can visit at any time of year. With our generous 22kg baggage allowance people can take their winter woollies or summer gear and really make the most of their trips.”
Amanda McMillan, managing director at Glasgow Airport said: “This yet more positive news from Jet2.com which is clearly committed to continually improving its service for customers. The extension of its popular Barcelona and Rome routes will provide passengers with greater flexibility and choice and it follows the airline’s recent decision to introduce flights to Murcia, Pula and Menorca.”
In October 2012, Jet2.com announced it will add a fourth aircraft to its successful Glasgow Airport base in 2013. The aircraft will be permanently based at the airport and its arrival will create more than 50 new jobs. The additional capacity means that there will be increased frequency on flights to a number of popular holiday destinations including the Canaries, Majorca, Ibiza and Turkey.
