03 September 2013
Jet2.com has announced an extra flight from Glasgow Airport to Barcelona for Celtic supporters travelling there for the club's crunch Champions League tie.
Celtic will face the European football heavyweights in the group stages of the Champions League, and Jet2.com is helping fans catch all the action by laying on an extra direct flight from Glasgow.
The flight will depart at 07:00 on Wednesday 11 December, arriving at 10:45 local time, allowing fans plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere in one of the world’s most beautiful cities before the game kicks off at 19:45.
Supporters will be able to see two of the world’s greatest footballers, Neymar and Lionel Messi, in action before the return flight departs the following day at 12:30.
Steve Heapy, chief commercial officer of Jet2.com, said: “We are delighted to be able to help Celtic fans get to Barcelona again for this all important UEFA Champions League tie. It’s going to be a real crunch match at the famous Camp Nou stadium as Celtic look to get revenge for last year’s loss on foreign soil.
"There’ll be a fantastic atmosphere on the night - guaranteed. With our friendly flights times, supporters also have plenty of time to take in some of the city’s most iconic attractions.
"Whether it’s getting in a bit of Christmas shopping at the bustling Las Ramblas stalls, seeing Gaudi’s stunning Sagrada Familia Cathedral or a stroll around the awe inspiring Park Guell gardens, the experience of Barcelona should be uplifting whatever the result.”
Francois Bourienne, commercial director at Glasgow Airport, said: “Jet2.com’s decision to lay on an extra flight to Barcelona is a fantastic response and it will no doubt prove popular with Celtic’s large travelling support.”
