Emirates enhance Glasgow service
04 May 2012
With just one month until Emirates commences its second daily service from Glasgow to Dubai, the leading international airline has announced that it will extend its complimentary Chauffeur-drive service to within 150 miles of Glasgow Airport for First Class passengers.
Premium passengers with Emirates already benefit from a complimentary Chauffeur-drive service of up to 70 miles but it has now been extended for First Class passengers, covering as far as Aberdeen and Inverness. This has been introduced to support the introduction of a First Class cabin onto the route from 1st June 2012 – the first time this has been offered by a commercial airline from Scotland.
The new evening service (EK26) will be operated by a three-class Airbus A340-300 aircraft with 12 First Class luxurious sleeper seats, and the existing lunchtime service (EK28) will be upgraded to a three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with eight Private Suites in First Class.
All Emirates’ First Class and Business Class passengers are offered complimentary Chauffeur-drive to and from their front door to the airport at the beginning and end of their journey. They are then also chauffeur-driven from their arrival airport to their end destination.
“To ensure our premium passengers have a seamless journey from start to finish, we are one of the few airlines that offers a complimentary Chauffeur-drive service for First Class and Business Class passengers,” said Laurie Berryman, Emirates’ Vice President UK.
“Our extended service now enables First Class passengers from as far as Aberdeen and Inverness to travel in comfort from their home or office directly to and from Glasgow Airport.”
Francois Bourienne, commercial director for Glasgow Airport, said: “Emirates decision to enhance its complimentary chauffeur-drive service to within 150 miles of Glasgow Airport is fantastic news for first class customers and further evidence of the airlines commitment to providing a bespoke service to its passengers.”
In addition to the Chauffeur-drive service, passengers travelling in First Class will benefit from access to the Skylounge Business Wing at Glasgow Airport and Emirates’ dedicated First Class Lounge at Dubai International Airport, as well as other dedicated Emirates Lounges worldwide.
Once onboard, First Class passengers will enjoy regionally inspired cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients, worthy of the world’s finest restaurants. Seven-course meals are presented on Royal Doulton fine bone china with exclusive Robert Welch cutlery, alongside the finest wines in the air.
Those travelling on the lunchtime service (Boeing 777-300ER) will be able to experience Emirates’ Private Suites in First Class with remote controlled door, lie-flat bed with multi-mode massage system, work desk, an electronically controlled personal mini-bar, room service feature, and Emirates’ state-of-the-art on-demand inflight entertainment system, ice (information, communication, entertainment) on a 23-inch wide LCD screen.
Those on the evening service (Airbus A340-300) will enjoy roomy sleeper seats with a 70” seat pitch, electronically-controlled leg rest and lumbar support and privacy hood. They too will enjoy on-demand inflight entertainment with hundreds of channels to choose from.
From Dubai, passengers travelling on Emirates’ non-stop service from Glasgow can connect to the airline’s global network of over 120 destinations spanning six continents. Popular destinations from Scotland include the airline’s four Australian gateways – Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane – along with New Zealand (Auckland and Christchurch), Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cochin and the Indian Ocean islands of Mauritius and the Maldives.
